A type specimen of two typefaces designed by Ernst Schneidler for the Bauer type foundry in the mid-1930s, Mediaeval and Legende. The main text is set to the words of Prometheus by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Dual language, English in 20pt Legende printed red, German in 20pt Mediaeval printed black. Mediaeval also shown in 24 and 28pt, and Legende in 16pt. Four-page insert showing synopsis of the two typefaces, plus two single sample insert sheets.
 
270 x 200 mm. 12 pages plus inserts printed on Zerkall White Bugra-Bütten 145 gm, inserts printed on Zerkall Ingres Red, Orange and Buff. Sewn into Hahnemhüle Bütten Black with Red Zerkall Ingres wrapper with the title printed in black. 100 copies printed on a 1903 Schelter & Giesecke Phoenix IV platen press..
