Egenolff & Berner

The famous type specimen of 1592, the first know sheet, displayed the range of types collected by Christian Egenolff and his heirs showing work by Garamond, Granjon, Haultin and Sabon. The specimen is one the reference sources used by Jan Tschichold when designing the Sabon typeface in the mid 1960s. At the foot of the sheet is an advertisement by Conrad Berner for the foundry’s types. The text on this broadside, is an English translation of that ad copy.
